Chapter 16 of

Stuart Little

Stuart kept on going, dreaming of what will happen if he found Margalo. Then, something awoke him from his daydreaming. Crash!!! There was steam coming out of the front of the automobile. He had run into a telephone pole! A guy was at the top of it. He had just finished fixing it when he looked down and saw Stuart and climbed down. He was wearing a brown suit, leather belt, with tools all over it. “Hello there” he said.

He came up to me and said “I’ll ask my mom”. His mom said” I’ll have to meet his mom. From then on we hung out with each other. Then we became best friends. Our moms met and we were going to have a play date, but it was on grandparents day.

His voice was kind and soft, and he didn’t look at all stunned when Stuart started talking. ”Good evening to you to”, said Stuart, getting cheered up. “A beautiful day, isn’t it?” “yes it is”, said the Man, “I’m looking forward to climb my poles today”. Stuart opened his hood. ”Shoot! It’s busted”. ”I could probably fix it.” It took about 5 minutes to fix it. ” Thank you”, said Stuart, “by the way, have you seen any birds?”

“Yes, I’ve seen lots of birds”

“Then have you seen one named Margalo? If you do, drop me a line”, Stuart said, looking at the repair-mans nametag. It read, “Max”. Max handed Stuart a tiny walkie-talkie. “Here, we can communicate with this. I have a bigger one so we talk with each other. I’ve always wanted to meet a mouse-human. Hope you find that bird”. Stuart said goodbye to Max and took off. He actually went to central park first. It was north. Once he got there he found a telephone pole. He scurried up the pole and carefully went across the wire. He found Margalo and was so stunned that he almost fell off the wire. “Margalo!! Margalo!!” He shouted. “Stuart!” shouted Margalo. They hugged. “Stuart I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you that I was leaving. I found a note that said-“ “I know”, said Stuart, “well I don’t know, but all I care about is that your safe!” ”Thank you Stuart, I’ll always remember this.” She carried Stuart down from the telephone pole. They went home (Margalo loved the automobile) and the raven that wrote Margalo the warning note introduced himself and Stuart told his parents about the raven and Snowbell being friends with the angina. So the angina got moved to the other side of town, Margalo was treated like a daughter, to Mr. and Mrs. Little, and a sister to George and Stuart. TheEnd

I haven’t been picked up and read for such a long time, about a month! I’m finally going to get read! He’s reading me! It tickles. I’m getting bored. What can a book do? What is a book supposed to do? Nothing, exactly! The only reason books are made is because humans read us! Flipping though our pages. This stinks! Oh great, now the cat jumped on the bed. “Hi Minette”, said Tom brightly. Oh he can talk but I can’t. I wish there is a reason for books to live! Not only because humans read us! Ouch! The human boy slammed me shut! I bet he doesn’t know that books are alive. Well I’m glad he finished reading me. I can’t believe he never heard me! Or maybe I’m thinking… Well I’m glad he finished reading me. I was getting of getting slammed shut and wet. Even though I only got wet once, but still it was a lot! I remember everything. The human boy tried to read me in the bathtub, he moved a bit and I got soaking wet. Not any more. I get to lay low, while the other HARRY POTTER#6 gets all of that! Then the other or next HARRY POTTER#7 book gets wet and slammed shut and all of that stuff! Know I just relax and lay low. This is great. Up, I’m getting bored again. I hate being bored. Being bored is boring. Can’t wait to get read again. As long as I don’t get wet again or slammed shut again. Wait a sec, but then after that person (human) reads me, I’ll get bored again. I hate being a book. This is so stupid. All I can do is sit around, and wait to get read again. Oh my gosh! I just remembered! Humans can walk, talk, eat, see, touch (I can feel, unlike other books), and taste. Know I really want to be a human. Hmmmmmmmm ……..I wonder, if I ever get to be a human, what gender will I have? Boy or girl? Well…I want to be a boy. Oh forget it. I’m never going to be a human. If I were to be human, it would be pure magic.
